Smoking Areas at Miami International Airport (MIA)
Miami International Airport enforces a strict no-smoking policy inside all terminals. This includes traditional cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and vaping devices. Nevertheless, travelers do have access to specific designated smoking zones, located both indoors and outdoors.
Indoor Option:
The only place where smoking is permitted indoors is at TGI Friday’s smoking lounge in Concourse D, close to Gate D36. This semi-open patio features a bar and full-service menu and usually operates from 7:00 AM to 10:30 PM.
Outdoor Smoking Spots:
You’ll find outdoor smoking areas on both the arrivals level (Level 1) and departures level (Level 2), directly across from Concourses D, E, F, H, and J. Smokers must remain at least 20 feet away from entrances and exits, in line with the Florida Clean Indoor Air Act.
Finding Your Way:
While there’s no interactive map available here, the official Miami Airport website (www.miami-airport.com) features terminal maps in the “Maps” section. Although not all smoking areas may be marked, you can locate Concourse D, Gate D36 for the indoor lounge or check areas near the listed concourses on Levels 1 and 2 for outdoor spots. The MIA mobile app also includes interactive navigation tools.
Helpful Tips:
- Look for directional signs throughout the airport or ask airport personnel for help finding smoking zones.
- Keep in mind that if you leave the secure area to access an outdoor smoking section, you’ll need to go through security again to return.
- Smoking outside designated areas may result in fines of up to $500.
